Writers and Poets: Portfolios and Contacts

Literature · Artists

Poets, novelists, essayists and translators keep a profile here. Each one holds the work they want read, the credits behind it, and their own contact details. Nobody is listed by an editor. Writers put themselves here, in whatever language they write in, and keep the page current themselves.

A writer's portfolio is a strange object. Some of it is finished and in print: a collection, a novel, an essay that ran somewhere. Some of it is a paragraph from a draft with no publisher yet. Profiles hold both, alongside audio of a reading, video from a festival stage, and scans of covers and pages.

You can read everything without an account. Open a profile, work through the pieces, then use the contact tab: writers publish an email and often nothing else, and you write to them directly. That is how a translation commission or an invitation to a magazine actually gets made, and it is the whole of what happens here.

Editors and festival programmers looking for a writer need to know what the person has published, how they sound read out loud, and which languages they work between. Translators list their language pairs. Poets who read well put the recording up. The profile carries text, audio and credits side by side because a single sample answers none of that.
