Sculpture Exhibitions, Casting and Carving

Dates posted by the people running them: gallery and museum sculpture exhibitions, casting and carving workshops, open studio weekends, and installations going up in public space. Each listing carries its own dates, address and a link out to the organiser's site, because that is where the details live.

Sculpture events run on longer clocks than most. A bronze pour is fixed by the foundry's diary, a stone carving weekend by who else needs the yard, and a large outdoor installation by whatever permission the site needed. Gallery shows for sculpture also tend to run longer than painting shows, because the work takes longer to install and to strike.

Places on a course, and anything else practical, are settled with the organiser through the link on the listing; British Artists handles none of it. Reading is open to anyone. A pour date is set by the foundry rather than by the person teaching, so it moves, and an account is what tells you when it has.

Casting is a fixed appointment. The crucible comes up to temperature once, so the moulds either go in that day or wait for the next melt, and the listing says which day that is. Carving works the other way: an open workshop, a block of stone, and you leave when the light goes. The two are rarely taught by the same person.
