Photographers and Their Portfolios

The photographers here work in documentary, portrait, editorial, street and fine art, on film and on digital. Each one publishes a whole body of work rather than a single frame lifted out of a series, and every profile carries the email, phone or website the photographer chose to make public.

A portfolio tells you what a single image cannot. You see how someone handles a long assignment, whether the light is found or built, how hard they edit. Some photographers post contact sheets and rejected frames next to the finished ones. Others post a series exactly as it ran, captions and sequence intact, which is closer to how the work was meant to be read.

Work through the albums first; that costs nothing and needs no account. The contact tab is where a commission, a print request or an offer to assist on a shoot begins, and that conversation happens off British Artists. Say in the first mail what the picture is for and where it will be seen, because usage is the part that decides everything else.

Most photographers run two practices at once: paid editorial or commercial work that pays for the personal project, and a documentary series that has been going for years and pays for nothing. Both sit on the same profile here. Video, audio and written notes can go in alongside the stills, so a project that involves sound or moving footage stays in one piece.
