Oil, Acrylic and Watercolour Paintings

Single paintings, put up by the person who made them. Oil on linen and canvas, acrylic on board, watercolour and gouache on paper, egg tempera, and a good deal of mixed media that will not sit under one label. Every piece arrives with whatever its painter decided to say about it.

A piece fills the screen at the size the file allows, with detail crops beside it where the painter uploaded them. Some add a short video of the surface turning under a lamp, a spoken note, or a few paragraphs about a passage that took months. The caption carries the year, the dimensions, the medium and the support.

Nothing here sits behind a login: search the set, open any canvas, read the caption. The painter's own email, phone or website sits on the profile every piece links to, so a question about a commission goes to them and not through us. Putting your own paintings up on British Artists costs nothing either.

Paint is a surface before it is an image, which is why so much of what is posted here would be pointless at thumbnail size: impasto ridges catching light, a glaze sitting over dry underpainting, the tooth of the paper still showing through a wash. Studies and discarded versions often sit near the finished canvas, so a series reads as a sequence rather than one lucky result.
