Dancers and Choreographers: Reels and Credits

Dancers, choreographers, rehearsal directors and dance teachers, each with a profile they wrote themselves. Contemporary, classical, flamenco, urban, tango and physical theatre all appear here. A dance profile carries what a photograph cannot: video of a body moving, plus the credits and the training that sit behind it.

Profiles hold performance footage, rehearsal clips shot from the front of the studio, a showreel cut for auditions, and often a written note on method or teaching. Video embedded from YouTube or Vimeo sits next to uploaded files, images and audio, so a choreographer can post the score beside the piece it belongs to.

The contact tab on each profile holds whatever the artist chose to publish, most often a phone number and an email. You write to them, and British Artists is not in the middle of it. None of that requires an account. Sharing a profile with whoever is casting does, and so does favouriting a piece, which then sits in plain view on your own page.

Casting directors, festival programmers and company managers arrive with the same question, which is what the person actually looks like moving. That is why the reel comes first and the written credits second. Dancers who also teach list the technique and the level they take, along with the languages they can run a rehearsal in.
