Every profile here is written by the artisan who made the work, so the material notes, the workshop location and the contact address come from the person at the bench rather than from a shop or a gallery. Browsing needs no account.

Craft training is slow and specific. A ceramicist learns one clay body and one kiln before trusting a glaze recipe; a silversmith spends years on soldering and stone setting before the work looks effortless. Profiles tend to name that background plainly: where someone trained, which techniques they use, whether they throw on the wheel or build by hand.

Contact details on a craft profile point at the bench, not at a shop, and they are whatever the maker decided to publish. A question about a piece or a commission stays off this site entirely. Favouriting is worth an account here, because the thing in the photograph may already be gone and what you need to keep hold of is who made it.

Most of these workshops run at small scale, which changes what a directory is for. A run of twelve mugs is gone once it is gone, so the portfolio is closer to a record of method than a catalogue: firing notes, dye baths, the tools someone had to make first. If a piece is spoken for, the maker can usually do something near it.
